Tryout Process

  1. Assemble a stunt group. In all-girl divisions, a stunt group is defined as four athletes: one backspot, two bases and one top/flyer. In coed divisions, a stunt group is defined as three athletes: two bases and one top/flyer.

    1. If you are unable to find a stunt group, you are still welcome to try out. We ask that athletes without a stunt group submit a video application with an introduction, tumbling and Team Alberta Cheer. Athletes are then asked to attend our in person tryout on June 13th, 2026. Coaches will do their best to form a group from other individuals at tryouts to assess stunting abilities. Groups will be made based on availability to train regularly (ex. All athletes are from Calgary)

  2. Review the Skills List below to ensure that you have the necessary skills for each level.

  3. Complete the athlete application form below by June 12th, 2026

  4. If you are trying out as an individual, please attend the In-Person Tryouts on June 13th, 2026 (9:00 - 11:00 AM, Double Tree by Hilton (16615 – 109 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB)

    • Full stunt groups are also welcome to attend the in-person tryout as well as complete a video submission, but this is not required

Video Submission

Videos are required to try out for Team Alberta, you are invited to submit a video (“Private” YouTube Video link) of all requirements found in the skill list.  Videos must be received by no later than June 12th, 2026 the application form below, or by emailing the video to meghan@albertacheerleading.ca

All videos must be submitted following the outline below and organized IN THE ORDER of the Skill List. If you are trying out as an individual, please skip the stunting portion of the skill list, this will be assessed at in person tryouts. Videos must be as current as possible. If there is a section you cannot perform, skip to the next one. Please be aware that full skill sets are most desirable. Smile naturally, speak clearly, and use adequate lighting.

Each member of your stunt group must submit individual athlete application forms.
