The ACA is pleased to offer FREE Introduction to Judging Sessions for ACA members!

The Introduction to Judging Session is facilitated by an experienced ACA Judge and is directed toward ACA member athletes and coaches who are 16+ years old with cheer experience.

The session provides training opportunities for those who are interested in learning more about judging but are not age-eligible or are not ready to participate in the ACA’s Judge Certification Training. 

What will I learn?

During this FREE, 2-hour VIRTUAL session, participants will:

  • Go over how to become a judge

  • Review the role of a judge, e.g. concepts of judging score sheets etc.

  • Participate in some sample activities.

  • Get their questions answered during the Q&A.

SAFETY JUDGE

  • Responsible for ensuring rules are followed, time requirements are met, assessing deductions for bobbles, falls and routine violations

  • Can be filled by judges who have a minimum of three (3) years of judging experience and have judged at a minimum of fifteen (15) competitions

SCORE CHECK JUDGE

  • Responsible for ensuring that appeals submitted at events are received prior to the applicable expiration time, that documentation outlining the appeal is properly completed, reviewing appeals including viewing applicable video and consulting as appropriate with panel, safety and supervisory judges, determining if an appeal is accepted or denied, and advising coaches of the decision

  • Can be filled by judges who have a minimum of three (3) years of judging experience and have judged at a minimum of fifteen (15) competitions

The ACA offers free judges training for ACA members.

What is ACA’s Judge Training?
