All certifications are subject to a minimum and maximum number of registrations.
All Registrations will close 72 hours prior to the certification date, certifications may be cancelled due to low enrollment or closed early if maximum spots are filled.

In order to complete any coaching certification, you are required to complete the previous level before being able to take the next level.
(eg: to take ACA Level 2, you need to have completed the ACA Level 1 or to take ICU Level 3, you need to have completed ICU Level 1 & 2)

All ACA & ICU certifications are valid for 3 years from the date on the certificate.

 

ACA Certifications

The ACA Coaching Certification levels have been updated to reflect the new scholastic levels set by Cheer Canada. Coaches are required to be certified up to the level that they are coaching. These certifications apply for Scholastic teams only.

ACA Coaching Certification Level 1 - Allowed to coach levels Beginner & Novice
ACA Coaching Certification Level 2 - Allowed to coach levels Beginner, Novice, Intermediate & Median
ACA Coaching Certification Level 3 - Allowed to coach levels Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Median & Advanced

All required items are to be submitted within 3 weeks of taking the Coaching Certifications.

Due to safety considerations, teams who attempt skills above their coaches' listed certification level may be subject to deductions or disqualification. 

FEES

The following fees will be in effect from July 2018:

ACA Coaching Certification Level 1 - $102.00

Includes: Coaching Manual, 7 hours of Classroom & Gym Instruction, Online Exam (Must have 80% to pass), hands on exam

ACA Coaching Certification Level 2 - $72.00

Includes: 4 hours of Classroom & Gym Instruction, Online Exam (Must have 80% to pass), hands on exam (Coaching Manual $25.00 if needed)

ACA Coaching Certification Level 3 - $72.00

Includes: 4 hours of Classroom & Gym Instruction, Online Exam (Must have 80% to pass), hands on exam (Coaching Manual $25.00 if needed)


Required Items for ICU and/or ACA Certified Coaches

All Scholastic & All-Star Coaches are required to complete the following in order to be considered a certified coach.

Scholastic Coaches (Certified after August 2018)

  • Coach Initiation in Sport (NCCP)

  • Making Head Way (NCCP)

  • Make Ethical Decisions (NCCP)

  • Respect In Sport

  • First Aid and CPR

  • Criminal Record Check (Valid for three years)

Scholastic Coaches (Certified prior August 2018) & All-Star Coaches

  • Coach Initiation in Sport (NCCP) by January 1, 2019
    Note: If a coach already has completed ASAA Fundamentals, this will be accepted in lieu of Coach Initiation in Sport for the 2018-2019 season.

  • Making Head Way (NCCP) by January 1, 2019
    Note: If a coach already has completed ASAA Concussion Course, this will be accepted in lieu of Coach Initiation in Sport for the 2018-2019 season.

  • Respect In Sport

  • First Aid and CPR

  • Criminal Record Check (Valid for three years)

If you are credentialing at Advanced, you are required to provide signed evidence of prior coaching experience. This form will be emailed to your teacher advisor and needs to be completed by them to complete the certification.


ICU Certifications

Credentials can take anywhere from 15 - 90 minutes depending on the number of modules you will be taking. The registration process will ask for your preferred start time(s) and will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis. We will contact you with your start time as soon as possible. Due to limited spaces, please be advised that it may not be possible to assign you to your preferred time but we will do our utmost to cater to everyone's needs.

FEES

The following fees will be in effect from July 2018:

Credentialing is charged at $60.00 per level (e.g. if you wish to certify at Novice (Level 1), Intermediate (Level 2) your total cost will be $120.00).

Re-credentialing (i.e. you are approaching the three-year mark since you certified through ICU/USASF and need to re-certify) is charged at $85.00.

The ICU offers credentialing for levels 4.2 and Premier (level 6). 

BEFORE YOU CREDENTIAL

Written Tests

Once you have registered an email with a link for the exams will be sent to you. You must complete and pass the written test(s), you must print or have a picture of your certificate and take it with you to your designated hands-on testing session. You will not be permitted to take the hands-on portion of the credentialing without a printed test certificate.

Practical Experience Evidence (PFE)

If you are credentialing at Median (Level 3) or above in any skill set, you are required to provide signed evidence of prior coaching experience. This form will be emailed to your gym owner/head coach and needs to be completed by them to complete the certification.
